  • Building Strong Foundations

    Our robust early childhood program gives every scholar a strong foundation in literacy and math while fostering a lifelong passion for learning. Based on DC Early Learning Standards, our expert team creates engaging learning experiences around themes like Transportation, Community Helpers, and Living Things.

    Daily Learning Includes:

    • Morning Meeting & Thematic Centers

    • Math lessons (whole group and small group)

    • Read Aloud & Phonics instruction

    • Small Group Reading

    • Art, dance, P.E. and soccer classes

    Our teachers assess students throughout the year and provide tailored small group instruction to meet each scholar's unique needs.

  • Rigorous, Real-World Learning

    We offer Common Core-aligned math instruction through the Eureka Math program, developing both conceptual understanding and mathematical fluency. Students apply their learning through real-world mathematical tasks because we believe our students deserve the best mathematics education possible.

    Our rigorous, Common Core-aligned ELA program provides students with essential skills for academic and life success.

    • Close reading skills for complex texts

    • Clear communication through speaking and writing

    • Motivation to read challenging, lengthy texts

    • The ability to write clearly and provide evidence to support claims 

    Expeditionary Learning Approach As an Expeditionary Learning (EL) school, we integrate deep science and social studies knowledge with reading and writing skills. Students create fiction stories, persuasive essays, and informative pieces while exploring diverse perspectives and cultures.

    Engaging Module Topics:

    • Weather Wonders (Kindergarten)

    • Schools Around the World (2nd Grade)

    • Adaptations and the Wide World of Frogs (3rd Grade)

    • Stories of Human Rights (5th Grade)

    • Working Conditions Then and Now (7th Grade)

    • Refugee Experiences During US Intervention in Vietnam War (8th Grade)

    Each module culminates in performance tasks where students share their work with peers.

    Program Structure:

    • Grades K-2: EL Language Arts lessons, EL Skills Phonics instruction, Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, Reading Small Groups 

    • Grades 3-8: EL Language Arts lessons, Small Group Close Reading

    • All Grades: Access to personalized iReady online learning

  • Developing Global Citizens

    Our World History curriculum builds cultural competence, critical thinking, and global awareness while complementing our ELA program.

    Through the Amplify Science curriculum, students engage in hands-on investigations, literacy-rich activities, and interactive digital tools. They learn to think, read, write, and argue like real scientists and engineers.

  • Well-Rounded Development

    Students participate in Health, Physical Education, Spanish, Art, and Dance classes.

Social-Emotional Learning

Building Character Daily

Every morning begins with interactive activities and lessons that develop essential social skills including empathy, friendship-building, problem-solving, and emotional management.
